Esko Salminen is distinguished award-winning Finnish actor.
Salminen plays classical roles that require technique and physical ability, and has spent most of his career appearing at the Finnish National Theatre and the Helsinki City Theatre. For an intensive period in the 1970s, Salminen was based at the Turku City Theatre as part of an ensemble that gained popularity with a powerful interpretation of Seitsemän veljestä (Seven Brothers) by Aleksis Kivi. Salminen began his film career in the final years of the Finnish film studio era, starring mainly in comedies and popular music films. Since then, he has appeared extensively in both dramas and comedies.
