Joonas Pohjonen

Pianist Joonas Pohjonen studied in Sibelius Academy with Meri Louhos and Erik T. Tawastsjern and graduated in 2000. He has participated master classes of e.g. Eero Heinonen, Dmitri Baskirov, Lev Naumov and Murray Perahia.

Pohjonen has also studied composing with Eero Hämeenniemi and Paavo Heininen. In 1997 Pohjonen won the first prize in Maj Lind -piano competition. Pohjonen has performed with many Finnish orchestras, e.g. Helsinki Symphony Orchestra, Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has played recitals both in his home country and in Stockholm, Paris and Zürich. As a chamber musician Pohjonen has performed in Korea and Japan. Pohjonen is a lecturer in piano and accompaniment in Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
